The art of HANA KEAKA with Kumu Maile Naehu
Kids ages 5 to 11: join us Monday to Thursday, 10/6 to 10/9!
KUALAPU’U, September 21, 2014 – Molokai Arts Center announces a new Fall School Intercession program all about the art of theatre performance! The Hana Keaka theatre classes, with Kumu Maile Naehu, will be for kids ages 5 to 11, held at the Molokai Arts Center studio, located at the beautiful Coffee’s of Hawaii location in Kualapu’u.
In four days, the Hana Keaka classes will introduce acting to the students, storytelling and movement, voice exercises, and end the series with a final family performance. Children will be welcome to stay during the lunch hour to help with painting a backdrop for the final performance. Full attendance is highly recommended due to the final performance: insuring all kids get to play their parts and others are not overwhelmed with playing multiple parts due to absences.
In addition to being a lot of fun, the theatre classes help to strengthen cultural practices in storytelling, helps to build confidence, overcome their fears, solve problems, boost their creativity, think faster on their feet, be better team players, and ultimately, gain a competitive edge.
Space is limited to 12 children in each age group – so hurry to get signed up!
